GO MINISTRIES/LIFE UPDATE
So, a lot of people don’t know what I’ve been doing with my life the past two years, and I’ve been pretty on the busy side of life & I let social media stay on the back burner, so HERE’S A MUCH NEEDED SUMMARY/LIFE AND WORK UPDATE????
After I graduated high school 2 years ago, the Lord called me to GO Ministries International (you might know that). At the time, I had no idea what that would look like, but boy was I in for the most amazing ride of my life.
My first year, they gave me opportunity and place to use my photography skills for the ministry: by traveling on the road to our different ministry events throughout the country (in Missouri, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Louisiana, and others) and simultaneously working on the social media team! I was also able to head up a few styled shoots for our product lines as they were released. I mean, COOLEST JOB EVER. AM-I-RIGHT?
I had originally planned on interning with GO for one year, and then moving on to college at DBU (you might remember this too), but as my first year drew closer to an end, the Lord began to tug on my heart and ever-so-patiently remind me that DBU had been a plan of mine, but not, in fact, of His. So through a process, I put my own plans and what I held on to so tightly aside, and gave room for Him to speak to me what He had planned for me. Spoiler alert: my season at GO was not yet over. So, I set aside college and pursued God’s call with everything in me, because I know that it is better than any of my own plans could EVER be, no matter what it looked like or felt like I might should be doing in the natural.
So after a short break in August, I went back to GO Ministries to begin my second year. Looking back now, I just think about how much more grounded in the Word I am because of my second year — things that could have been lost are settled beyond a doubt. Things that made little impact my first year made huge impact my second year. God is GOOD, y’all.
I was also able to do even more as the photographer, graphic designer, and social media team-er. It’s been so exciting to see everything “media” grow in GO Ministries..I feel a little like it’s my little baby, and it’s come SO FAR. (shameless plug: GO Ministries International — also Instagram!). My first year we got our feet wet, and my second we were able to take off. I took pictures full time on the road (Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri x 2, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Louisiana x 5, and probably more I can’t remember), worked with our newly developed CREATIVE TEAM (yay yay yay) to manage our social media accounts, and our branding began to become developed and established. We held our very-first-ever GO Ministries LVCR YTHXCMP (oh and kids camp a few weeks before) this summer, and I got the amazing opportunity and honor of designing the logo and other elements and ALSO developing the marketing campaign for it. That was by far the biggest and most fulfilling design project I’ve been able to work on to date. Wowza.
The Lord showed me as I prepared to come back for a second year that while media work can sometimes seem behind the scenes (a thing I don’t mind) and have a tendency to feel small, the impact it has is monumental. The internet has an ability to reach more people than anything else in the world. The platform that that gives for the gospel is unparalleled. So, while I’m talking about things that are exciting personal opportunities and dream accomplishments, they have had SUCH impact for the reach of GO Ministries, and therefore the voice of the gospel — the most important thing. It is beyond amazing to me how God puts in us dreams and desires that are designed for other people, and the amazing journey that He gets to take us on to fulfill those dreams and desires for His kingdom. It’s a wild ride.
All that to say, I’VE BEEN BUSY. Traveling and photographer-ing and ministering to amazing kids across the country and doing life with amazing God people. If you want to hear more, I really like coffee. We could totally chat over a cup of it. But in the meantime, here’s some of the things I’ve been able to work on for the ministry, and a little glimpse of what my life has looked like for two years.
OH and all this to say that IM OFFICALLY BACK IN H-TOWN, and I’M OFFICIALLY STARTING ALANNA NASON PHOTOGRAPHY. So if you or someone you know needs pictures of anything, lemme know! And if you read this all the way to the end, thanks for being a friend. Your support has meant the world, whether you spoke it or not. YOU ROCK.
